Introduction OHS for Construction

Event Code: D06.19 (2 Survey Practice Points)

David Farmer has been with the Business Assistance Unit as an Advisory Officer since mid-July 2005. The Business Assistance Unit began in February 2005 with the aim of better providing information and advice to small and medium businesses. Prior to commencing with Workcover he worked with multi-disciplinary Occupational health, Safety and Environmental consultancies in Sydney and Newcastle mostly working in the asbestos identification, assessment and remediation fields.

The talk is a basic introduction to OHS for Construction and if time permits will touch on Workers Compensation. The talk will look at issues such as moving plant on construction site, electrical safety, falls from heights and work method statements. There will also be discussion on some of the basic principals of Risk Assessment. Attendees will be provided a "show bag" which will include the power point presentation and some relevant publications.
